When sailing in the southern direction, you will pass through Breukelen, Maarssen, Oud Zuilen and eventually Utrecht. This route is absolutely beautiful! You will sail along the scenic and authentic country houses, pavilions and castles. The route is marked with beautiful hortensia’s (among others), which is also known as “the flower of the Vecht”. The route is a feast for the eye and absolutely worth taking.

The round trip in a northerly direction takes you through the very beautiful and charming village centers of Loenen aan de Vecht, Vreeland, Nigtevecht, Nederhorst den Berg and Weesp. With the possibility to make a small stopover in Vreeland, for example, here you can visit Kaasboerderij de Willigen, where you can taste delicious cheeses and/or enjoy an interesting and informative guided tour.

For both sailing routes, in both southern and northern direction, naturally the locations depend on the duration of your round trip.

Another possibility is to board in Loenen aan de Vecht. From this location it takes around 10 minutes to get to the Mijdense Sluis, a lock giving access to the Loosdrechtse plassen. A great location to swim or dip your toes in the water with a drink in hand… After which you can have a fantastic lunch or diner on one of the cosy terraces while looking out on the water.

The Vinkeveense plassen are known for its many small islands that emerged from years of peat excavations. This is a great place for swimming. A sailing trip across the Vinkeveense plassen is easily combined with a trip on the river the Amstel till Abcoude for example. The water in these waters is extremely clear.
